Saturday, March 25, 2017 - 9:00am to 12:00pm

Description

What will I learn? The seminar will serve as an introduction to the basics of solar photovoltaic (PV) technology with a specific focus on small, off-grid systems similar to those that LUTW designs and installs in remote communities. The seminar will cover: 1) Solar PV technology, 2) Electricity basics, 3) Off-grid solar PV system components and 4) Off-grid solar PV system design and sizing basics. At the end of the seminar participants will: 1. Be able to provide a basic explanation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems 2. Be aware of major components required for off-grid solar PV systems and their purpose 3. Have a basic understanding of what’s involved in sizing off-grid solar PV systems Please note, the seminar does not focus on grid-tie systems. Why should I attend? This is an opportunity for anyone without a technical background to learn about solar PV technology in a fun and approachable environment. Registration fee and deadline: The seminar cost is $45 for adults and $25 for students. All proceeds will go to support LUTW’s programs. Space is limited so register early.
